January: Meet Ms. Porter

- I was born and raised here in Columbus, Ga.
- I am married with 3 boys who are all grown-up. I also have a grandson who is 4 years old.
- I recently lost my dog Koko who was 16 years old. I had her since she was a puppy.
- I taught 2nd grade for 16 years at E.A. White Elementary.
- I have enjoyed being the Information Specialist here at Dexter for 12 years.
- I love teaching Sunday School / Children’s Church.
- I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority INC.
- My dad, my husband and two of our boys were all in the military. My dad & husband were in the army. One of our sons was in the Air Force, and the other is currently a First Lieutenant in the Air Force.
- My mother is a retired special education teacher from Fort Benning. She retired after about 30 years while teaching at Faith Middle School.
- I also have a brother who is 8 years older than me. He also lives here in Cataula, GA.
- Snacks – popcorn, dark chocolate, and mixed nuts
- Sport team – LSU / Saints (my husband is from Louisiana)
- Books - I like to read inspirational books like the Purpose Driven Life
- Hobbies - crafting, shopping & traveling, eating out and most of all spending time with family
