November Updates from the Nurse
Influenza Vaccine Requirement Notice
It is flu season and time for reminders for DoDEA's flu requirement. All DoDEA students are required to get an influenza vaccine for the 2025-26 school year. The cut-off date for turning in influenza documentation to the school is December 1, 2025. I will be sure to notify Dexter families if any additional MACH flu clinics are set up for this flu season.
Making an appointment with your primary care provider to receive the flu vaccine is a way you can meet the DoDEA requirement. Another option would be to reach out to local pharmacies and arrange to receive the required vaccine via appointment or walk-in. Most local pharmacies (Publix and Walgreens for certain) have a three year and older eligibility notation on their websites. Prior to traveling to receive vaccination, make sure that the pharmacy will give the vaccine to your child and that they accept your insurance.
I also wanted to let parents know that every year I perform vision and hearing screenings for 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade. If for some reason you do not want your child screened, please notify me so I can remove them from my screening list.
Some additional reminders:
- Please send water bottles with your student
- Please keep your student home if they are feeling unwell
