Inside the Nest

Dear Dexter Family,

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful and rejuvenating Winter Break! As we begin the final semester of the 2025–2026 school year, we would like to take this opportunity to revisit some essential aspects that contribute to our students' success: goal setting and attendance.
In the upcoming weeks, students will reflect on the goals they established earlier this year, make any necessary adjustments, and determine the next steps to reach their goals.

As a reminder, the DoDEA Attendance Policy supports our belief in the critical importance of school attendance. This policy balances the need for flexibility in accommodating military students and families to the greatest possible extent with the expectation that students need to be in school. When possible, parents are encouraged to call the front office when they know their child will be absent or provide a written note when your child returns to school. These actions will allow the absence to be properly documented.

At Dexter Elementary, we believe that collaboration between students, families, and staff is the foundation of success. By working together, we create a supportive environment where every child can thrive academically, build resilience, and enhance well-being.

Thank you for partnering with us to make this semester the best yet!

With Eagle Pride,

Dexter Admin

Tips from the Front Office

Our Lost and Found has officially reached maximum capacity! If your child’s favorite jacket, water bottle, or that missing glove has disappeared, chances are it’s waiting patiently in our collection.
With chilly weather here, now is the perfect time to reclaim those items. Please remind your student to check the Lost and Found. Those belongings are ready to go home where they belong.
Thank you for helping us reunite these items with their rightful owners!

Tips from the Nurse

If parents choose to send food items for classroom celebrations, they must be store bought and prepackaged. This helps us maintain safety and hygiene for all students. To ensure we can accommodate any allergies in the class, please contact our school nurse, Nurse Lynn Swinford, before sending items. Your cooperation helps us keep every student safe and included during celebrations.
Thank you for partnering with us to make these special moments enjoyable and safe for everyone!

Tips from Herbie the Eagle

With the chilly weather settling in, we want to make sure all our students stay cozy and comfortable throughout the school day. Please remember to send your child with a warm coat, jacket, hat, or any outerwear they may need for recess and outdoor transitions. We still enjoy outdoor time whenever possible, and we want every child to feel warm and cared for while they learn and play.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our children warm, happy, and ready to learn each day.
